Call for Abstracts
The 2025 NC WRRI Annual Conference will take place in Raleigh on March 25-26. Students, faculty, practitioners, and community members from across the state are invited to submit abstracts for consideration.
Submit Abstracts by November 10th
The call for abstracts will open on September 15th
The conference program is determined by the abstracts that are submitted and accepted by WRRI. Past conferences have had sessions on a variety of topics from across the state including water quality and quantity, flooding, emerging contaminants, water and wastewater treatment, erosion control, stormwater management, water policy, and much more.
The 2026 Call for Abstracts is now open. Submitted abstracts should be a maximum of 250 words in length and include a brief summary of work to be presented on. View abstracts from past annual conference here.
All abstracts should be submitted through the eNCWRRI submission portal. Please note that, should your abstract be accepted, you are expected to register for and attend our conference.

Multiple Presentation Styles Welcome
Presenters can choose one of the styles below or suggest their own.
Oral Presentation
- Present a ~15 minute talk with slides. Selected presentations will be placed into a session based on topic.
Poster Presentation
- Present a scientific poster summarizing research. All selected posters will be displayed, and presenters will present during the poster reception.
- Students who have abstracts accepted for poster presentations will be automatically entered into the poster competition for a chance to win a cash prize.
Full Session or Panel Discussion
- Plan a session (approximately 90 minutes) consisting of several oral presentations, a panel, workshop/training, and/or a discussion.
Lightning Talk
- Present a captivating and informative 5 minute mini-presentation. Selected talks will be placed into a session consisting of other lightning talks.
- Students who have abstracts accepted for lightning talks will be automatically entered into the lightning talk competition for a chance to win a cash prize.
Other: Suggest a new presentation style!
- WRRI is open to ideas that inform in engaging and exciting ways!
